{ Goodbye 2010 and Hello 2011 }

I can't believe that this is the last post on my blog this year. I am a little sad that this year is coming to an end, but I am looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for a great year!!!!

I used Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card Large Dots CC007, Silhouette 16 (leaves) D5566, Silhouette 15 (butterfly) D5565 and Thanks Sentiments CL41.

Here is a photo of our little family from Christmas day.

Happy Christmas Eve! Alex is asleep, presents are under the tree, cookies and milk are out and there is a note for Santa on the front door so he knows where Alex lives! That was the last thing he needed to do before going to bed.
Here are some photos of what we have been up to.

Celebrating my birthday

Crafting - Alex made gifts for his friends

Playing - Chutes and Ladders

Reading - Twas the Night Before Christmas

May your Christmas be filled with joy and happiness!!!

{ Technique Tuesday - The Old Stuff Challenge }

Technique Tuesday is getting ready to release their retiring stamps list and here are two cards I created with the some of the stamps that are retiring.

If you'd like a peek at some more stamps on the retirement list you can see them here. And if you haven't signed up for the newsletter, do it here to get the list when its released and to be entered in a draw for a $100 gift certificate.

This one I made using Spiro Garden. I stamped the large flower on the background. One of them I cut out and adhered using pop dots. I added My Mind's Eye patterned paper and a doily.  The sentiment is from Simply Stated (NOT retiring).

On a different note, here is a card I made using December Daily 2010 stamps  by Ali Edwards. I have been updating finished pages of my December Daily 2010 here.

{ Impression Obsession DT challenge - Metallics }

Hello and welcome to another Impression Obsession DT challenge. We have challenges every other week - DETAILS HERE - if you play you could win a $25 gift certificate to the Impression Obsession store.

Challenge: All that glistens is not (only) gold --- color challenge... metallics
I wasn't sure how to go with this challenge and then I remembered I had this box of old stuff. In it I found Metallic Foil  paper in all different colors. I can't remember when I bought that.  This might be the first time using it.

 I used Swirl Trees (CL196) stamp set for my card. The base is a strip of Tinsel & Twig from The Girls' Paperie and the I added my foil paper. If you look really close I dry  embossed the foil paper with Cover-a-card Music stamp (CC029). I laid the paper on top of the rubber stamp and rubbed with my bone folder.

 For the ribbon I used a piece of fabric and then I tied a little jingle bell with twine. After I stamped the trees, I cut them out. I used a glue pen to trace the swirls in the tree and applied silver glitter. I did the same thing with the stars.

I hope you'll take the time to visit the other designers' blogs for inspiration!

***Would you like to see your card featured on the Impression Obsession blog? Email your challenge cards using Impression Obsession images to Shirley. Every week, cards will be selected to showcase on the Impression Obsession blog!!!

{ CPS #197 and my favorite stamp }

I wanted to make a card with my favorite stamp...Cover-a-card Music (CC029) from Impression Obsession. I used CPS #197 for the card. Music stamps are everywhere, but I love this one. The stamp is 5.75x5.75 inches and it's perfect for a standard size card. Standard size A2 - Folded Card Size 4.25" x 5.5"
I used Jeni Bowlin paint dabber to cover my stamp and I love the way it looks. I need to get more colors. I have Stick Candy (used on the card)  and Malted Milk which I used to paint the edges of my paper and cardstock. The paint so easy to apply and it dries really fast.
 I used a sentiment from Swirl Trees (CL196) that I stamped on the left over music cardstock. The snowflake is a Sizzix die that I sprayed with Apple Glimmer Mist. The card is sprayed with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist and it sparkles.

I needed a little gift card holder so I came up with this little thing. Can you see a gift card tucked in there? I used a paper sack that I folded in half and sewed along the edges. The sacks are 3 1/2 x 2 x 6 3/4 inches that I got at Hobby Lobby long time ago. Roben-Marie Smith has  Krafty Lace Bags on her blog and a video tutorial on how to make them . I thought this little size would be perfect for a gift card.
 I used Webster's Pages patterned paper and little embellishments that were leftover from Melissa's little kit. I stamped and cut out a little tree from Gift of Love (CL291) that I adhered/tucked on the inside. The little tag is from A Gift For You (CL148) stamp set and it fits perfectly here. In addition, I used a little strip of stamped music paper that was left from the card above. Folding the bag in half makes two little pockets...the front for a gift card and the back one for some treats.

If you need a quick little gift this would be perfect.
Have a great week!

{ Technique Tuesday All Stamping Tech Challenge: Color }

Teri challenged us to make a project based on this color scheme. You can see more beautiful examples here.
I used Simply Stated, Message in a Banner, Glee (for the background) and The Cupcakery.

 I stamped the cupcake on patterned paper. Once it was cut I added Stickles.
 I stamped my background with music notes and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I used Shimmerz spray for the background.
For the banner  stamp I was able to use my Cricut and SCAL software to make a template for the base. Once it was cut I just stamped my banner. I used this great tutorial.

***If you missed out on December Daily stamp set by Ali Edwards you can let them know and if enough people sign up they will make more.

I have started my December Daily 2010 album. You can see my completed album and pages
